Injustice 2 is a fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is the seventh game in the Mortal Kombat franchise and the second installment in the Injustice sub-series, which combines elements from both the Mortal Kombat and DC Comics universes. Injustice 2 was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and iOS/Android devices in April 29, 2017.
The game's story continues with the events of Injustice: Gods Among Us, where Earth's greatest heroes have been defeated by Superman and are now imprisoned. The game's plot revolves around the unnamed hero Raiden, who is fighting against his former teammates and the corrupt regime of the dictator Darkseid. The game's storyline is filled with twists, betrayals, and emotional moments that make it a compelling narrative experience.
One of the most significant improvements in Injustice 2 is the game's visual and audio presentation. The game features a more cinematic and dramatic visual style, with stunning cutscenes that feel like they've been ripped straight out of a comic book or movie. The game's sound design is also exceptional, with voice acting, animations, and sound effects that make the game feel massive and grand.
Gameplay-wise, Injustice 2 remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. The game features a robust roster of characters from the Mortal Kombat and DC universes, with each character having their unique movesets, combos, and abilities. The game's combat system is still based on the Mortal Kombat X's mechanics, with new moves and abilities introduced to keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. The game also includes new features such as a targeted enemy system, which allows players to focus their attacks on specific parts of their opponents' bodies, making combos more effective and strategic.
Another new feature in Injustice 2 is the "Multiverse" mode. This mode allows players to explore different timelines, realities, and alternate versions of events that occurred in the game's storyline. The Multiverse mode is deep and complex, offering players a wealth of content to discover and new characters to unlock.
In addition to its story, gameplay, and multiverse mode, Injustice 2 features several other gameplay modes that cater to different playstyles. These include the "Correct Path" campaign, which follows the game's main story, "Brute Force," where players fight through waves of enemies, "Mortal Kombat-style" fighting challenges, and a tower defense mode called "Injustice 2: The MultiVersity."
Overall, Injustice 2 is a celebration of the Mortal Kombat and DC universes, with an epic story, stunning visuals, incredible sound design, and a combat system that will challenge even experienced players. The game's deep multiverse mode and various gameplay modes add longevity to the overall experience, making Injustice 2 an excellent choice for both casual and competitive players.
